Italy produces the most wine in the world today although this fact may not be noted by many due to the fact that the French wine industry which comes in second in terms of production volume, is very popular. France also has a strong influence on wine industries in other countries as most international wine is made from grapes of mostly French origins. Nevertheless, Italians have an ancient wine making tradition that goes back to the 2nd century BC and are masters of the art. Thus their red wine and white wine is popular for its distinctiveness among those who appreciate the fine points of great wine.
