The 8.5 hectares of hillside vineyards are situated in the Saar and Ruwer district and are cultivated in an eco friendly manner where manure is used to fertilise the vines. Yields are kept low in order to produce wines with more depth and character.
Grape Varieties: Riesling
Notes: Although the wines of the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer regions are all banded together, the wines from the Saar, which joins the Mosel at Konz to the South West of Trier, are so racy that they can be quite steely in their youth. However, the Kabinett and Spatlese qualities age gracefully, and produce some exquisite flavours. The vineyard of Kupp in the village of Ayl has produced some of the best wines from this area.
Serve: Chilled at 8 to10C with any kind of meat or poultry or as an aperitif.
Tasting Notes: Plenty of fine Riesling flavours, with good depth from the Spatlese quality. The underlying sweetness is off well balanced by the acidity.
