This superb Eau de Vie (water of life) has intense aromas and tastes of Williams pears (from which it is distilled) and a terrific palate-cleansing finish.
Its fine character reveals the whole pear flavour. A true delight.

Moutard Diligent, perhaps more famous for their Champagne is also the proud owner of Champagne’s only “artisanal” distillery – a poignant homage to his great grandfather’s passion for eaux de vie. The distillery is situated in Buxeuil, a small commune of the Aube department which takes its names from the Aube river, a tributary of the River Seine.  Both the Moutard and Diligent families have been making Champagne since 1642. Remarkably, from this date onwards, each generation has followed in the family’s footsteps, although it wasn’t until the marriage of Josette Diligent and Lucien Moutard in 1960 that the two families became one.

Fruit:   The Poire Williams are left to ferment before the distillation commences.

Distillation:  Four copper pot stills are used to distill the fruit from the middle of November through to the middle of February.

Origin of fruit:  The Rhône Valley

Taste:      The nose is expressive of ripe fruits, while on the palate it is round, supple and smooth.
